Public School

The Trumann School District (Grades K-12) is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. All teachers must have a bachelor’s degree. A large percentage possesses master’s degrees.

Higher Education

Arkansas State University is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas just 16 miles north of Trumann. ASU’s rapid development over the years has been typical of other major universities in an emerging modern south. From a development school in 1909 to a junior college in 1918, to a four-year degree granting institution in 1930, ASU finally received university status in 1967.

The main campus occupies 800 acres, owns more than 3,000 acres of land in five different counties, and has a physical plant values at over $170 million.

With an annual budget of over $50 million, ASU is attended by some 10,000 students annually who work toward degrees in more than 90 areas of specialization. Approximately 130 baccalaureate degrees are offered through the colleges of arts and sciences, business, education, communications, nursing and health professions, fine arts, engineering, agriculture and applied sciences. Fifteen graduate degrees in 60 areas are offered, as are pre-professional programs in nine areas. Two specialist degrees with 18 areas of emphasis are also offered. Only recently has the institution begun offering a doctoral degree in educational leadership.

Vocational Education

Arkansas State Technical School in Marked Tree, Arkansas is just 14 miles from Trumann. The primary purpose of the facility is to prepare men and women for employment. Instructions are provided to meet a wide range of needs for individuals and industry. There is also an adult education center located in Trumann that teaches basic reading skills to adults as well as offering College Preparatory Courses.
