Theaters
Trumann has one indoor cinema theater.
Near - Jonesboro has two indoor theaters, which together house 24 screens for your movie enjoyment.
Parks
The Trumann Parks and Recreation
Department with a staff of two-full time and one part-time Summer
employee helps to oversee five area parks with over 41 acres of open
space. All parks have modern playground equipment, which is well
maintained. The largest park is located on the West side of the
city and has facilities for special activities such as tennis,
basketball and baseball/softball. The Old Community House complex
located at Main Street and Poinsett Street has a community building
with indoor basketball court and meeting room that serves as a
gathering site fir many local organizations. It also features a
baseball/softball field known as Fleming Fields. The newest addition to
the Park System is the Trumann Sports Complex. This state of the
art facility is located on Pecan Grove Road. This complex is home
to three softball fields, a baseball field, several soccer fields, a
quarter mile walking track, play ground equipment, and a 10,000 square
foot recreation center. The Trumann Park and Recreation
Committee supervises the baseball/softball programs for the
youngsters in Trumann including T-Ball. Minor League, Girls Softball,
Little League, Boys Traveling Teams and Jonesboro League; and Winter
Basketball. Trumann Public Schools also Maintain a lighted
football field, track and field house, and basketball courts at both
elementary schools.
Golf
The Trumann Country Club maintains a
nine-hole Golf course with irrigated fairways and greens. Other
facilities at the club include a swimming Pool, Tennis courts and
clubhouse. The membership fee is $450 and monthly dues are $60.
There are three public golf courses within 30 minutes of Truman.
Fishing
Numerous fishing lakes offer anglers
challenging Sports in the Trumann area. The St. Francis River Is
just two miles east of Trumann and is an
excellent fishing river. Fishing lakes in the area include:
Craighead Forest Lake – 16 miles
Lake Charles – 48 miles
Lake Poinsett – 20 miles
Lake Hogue – 34 miles
Lake Frierson – 31 miles
Boating, Skiing, Fishing and more
Corps of
Engineers lakes abounds in Arkansas and three are within four hours of
Trumann and offer a wealth of aquatic fun in clear and water lakes
and streams nearby those lakes. They include Greers Ferry
Lake, Norfolk Lake and Bull Shoals Lake.
Hunting
Small game such as squirrel, quail,
rabbit, duck and geese are hunted in season in the area. Hunting
enthusiasts wanting larger game find Arkansas well stocked with deer
that may be hunted in season with gun, crossbow, and bow and
arrow. The St. Francis Lake Association with over 1,000 active
members in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, has
developed a natural fisherman’s paradise and small game reserve just
two miles east of Trumann. It further offers some of the best
duck hunting to be found anywhere and draws from all areas of the
country during the duck season in Arkansas.
Other areas include Bayou Deview Wildlife Management Area 32 miles
from Trumann; Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge, 40 miles; and
Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge, 31 miles.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Trumann possesses a modern library/museum
housing some 15,3000
books for public use as well as numerous artifacts revolving around the
history of Trumann – past and present.
The Trumann Area Fine Arts Council provides a significant number of cultural events for the community each year.
